Operation:

Principle

Leaks in water pipes generate noise that Mikron 3 Junior® detects. Leak noises travel through water and pipe walls and can be detected when listening at hydrants and valves. Leak noises also propagate from the leak point to the ground surface. This can be detected using the sensitive ground microphone.

Minimum Noise Level digital display

Accurate leak pinpointing is enabled because Mikron 3 Junior® displays the Minimum Noise Level.  Background noise levels which will include the leak noise are filtered out to exclude other noises like road traffic. Mikron 3 Junior® displays the two previous Minimum Noise Level readings so that the user can tell if they are moving toward or away from a leak point. The current acoustic level, volume position and battery charge are also displayed.
